    REVIEW OF 2000

Linux Expo Madrid has become the obligatory stop for all professionals who want to keep up with events and stay ahead of the very latest developments in GNU/LINUX and open-source software solutions.

LINUX EXPO Madrid: two very special days for the world of Linux.

The first edition, in April 2000, attracted more than 3,000 decision makers!

As of today, our doubling of the total exhibition area has already led more than 60 companies, representing the biggest names in the IT industry and the GNU/Linux world, to confirm their participation in the second edition.

The Keynote Session assembled an audience of more than 450 people in the big Auditorium to hear
    • Mario Luis, Director General, Prensa Técnica
    • Miguel De Icaza - Helixcode, the New GNOME Technologies
    • Alain Roumiguier - VP Public Affaires, Matra Data Vision
    • Juan Jesús Múñoz - Open-source Software in Government Administration
    • Adam Jollans - EMEA SW Marketing Manager - IBM,

all of whom had come especially to give their vision of the world of Linux and survey the major trends.

12 conferences and tutorials gave 500 participants the opportunity to extend their technical knowledge.

    THE EXHIBITION

    Displays

Bare stand, stand with basic fittings or packaged, no effort is spared to ensure that you have the display that meets your needs.

The International Village provides space for foreign companies who want to penetrate the Spanish market.

The Startup Village gives young companies a chance to display their products and services to forge new alliances.

The Associations Space is open to the various members of the Linux community, such as Debian, the Free Software Foundation, Barrapunto, HispaLinux, TodoLinux, Gnome, etc.

    Sponsoring

For you to make the most of your participation in Linux Expo Madrid, we make a complete set of sponsoring and communication tools available to you.

These products are designed to accompany the marketing and communication actions you want to carry out:
    • before the show, to invite your clients and prospects,
    • during the show, to staff your display and receive your prospects,
    • after the show, to follow up contacts with your future clients.
These tools start with inclusion of your logo in the catalogue - a veritable yellow Pages of the Linux market,
to sponsorship of badges and sponsorship of conference rooms.

They are all described in the Sponsorship packet, which we will be happy to send you on request.

    THE CONFERENCES

An event in their own right!

An exceptional cycle of conferences and tutorials is offered, featuring the top European specialists.

The inaugural session is the major event of the show: leaders of the Linux world will set the tone by announcing major upcoming changes in the world of open-source software.

The Tutorials: real interactive training sessions specially designed to cover a specific technical topic in a 2 hours session.

A dozen conferences will be held on key market themes, giving attendees a unique chance to meet top specialists.

    APC SYSTEMS
According to Fernando Garcia, "These type of events should be more frequent in order to promote this system, because consumer interest is very high."

    Conectiva
"As the first professional Linux trade show it was very successful, especially because it attracted other companies, in addition to distributors, that work with Linux. Best of all, many professionals visited the show”, said José Vincente Rodriguez.

    Pervasive Software
In the words of Pierre-Yves Henry, "Wonderful, this is the first major Linux trade show in Spain.  We really believe in this platform. Linux is a new market, closely-linked to the academic world, but with an increasing corporate and professional presence.

    Esware LINUX
David Card: “Compared to the last trade show, I have to say that this one was very well organized.  We came here to promote our new product and we obtained our objective.”

    Cocodrilo Libros
Deborah Worth: “As a young company we met many people interested in book publishing with Linux.

    SuSE Gmbh
Art Barmon: “Linux has a lot of potential in Spain, on the consumer as well as the corporate level.  This was a very interesting show, above all for the contacts.”

    Pearson Education
Daniel Heredero: “The public came out in large numbers, above all the professionals, which is very promising.”
