LINUX EXPO MADRID: A COMPLETE PANORAMA OF PLAYERS AND OFFERINGS

Manufacturers, distributors, systems integrators, publishers, IT service companies, and startups - all the players in the GNU/LINUX world will be on hand so that the 5,000 visitors expected at the 2001 Expo can find out about today's and tomorrow's solutions and meet future partners. A growing market deserves an ambitious promotion plan. The LINUX EXPO team has done everything to vitalize the market and position the event as THE yearly meeting place for the GNU/Linux community.

    MARKETING PLAN

The LINUX EXPO team is doing everything possible to make sure that this event becomes THE annual meeting of the GNU/LINUX world. A broad package of marketing tools (invitations, a newsletter, e-mailings, fax mailings, and telemarketing) will be put in place to raise the awareness of decision makers with high investment potential. We will also be running campaigns via the Internet to keep visitors regularly informed on the progress of the show. Newsletters will be sent to our core target market. This newsletter is your opportunity to announce your new products and reach your future clients.

    Target Audience

    • IT developers
    • Researchers and university people
    • IT service companies and VARs
    • IT and technical management of major corporations
    • Decision makers at small and midsized companies

    Actions

    • Invitations sent out to the 3,000 LINUX EXPO Madrid 2000 decision makers in late January
    • A wave of 150,000 conference programs including two invitations will be distributed in early January 2001.
    • Invitation inserts in the major Linux magazines on the market.
    • Distribution of 15,000 copies of 2 Newsletters.
    • Fax mailing to the show's core target market
    • Distribution of 15,000 invitations to the inaugural session
    • Follow-ups by e-mail 15 days, 10 days and 2 days before the opening of LINUX EXPO Madrid to the 8,000 pre-registered visitors
    • Creation of traffic on our Web site (www.linux-expo.com): ad banners, etc
    • Free distribution of catalogues and expo maps to all visitors
    • Badges sent out to the pre-registered visitors at the begining of march 2001

    Media plan

The promotion of Linux Expo Madrid will also include a media plan in the leading computer magazines and in the GNU/Linux press. Advertisements will announce Linux Expo Madrid starting in November: a total of more than 60 ads are planned, informing decision makers of the show and giving them an opportunity to request their badge.

    Press relations

In addition to the major media plan, we publish and distribute press releases and press kits to supply material relating to the event to the IT, economic, and generalist press. The press-relations campaign will announce, among other items, innovations and sneak previews to ensure that Linux Expo Madrid becomes an important media event.
